The 8 golden tanning tips

  1. Observe tanning time recommended for your skin type, then you will tan in a gentle way.
  2. Remove all cosmetics and perfume before a tanning session, as perfume can cause permanent discoloration of the skin!
  3. Only use a solarium once a week and avoid sunbathing the same day!
  4. If you have many liver spots, ask your doctor how to look after them when you go out in the sun or use a solarium!
  5. Always wear sun glasses!
  6. Have approximately a four-week break from the sun every year!
  7. Be careful with tanning while taking medication. Many medications increase the UV sensitivity of the skin, and can lead to pathological reactions. If you are not sure, ask your doctor for advice!
  8. Remove any jewelry before a tanning session, as this will help to avoid possible allergic reactions as well as white spots and stripes!

White patches are mostly formed on shoulders or above the buttocks, and are caused by body’s pressure when lying in a tanning bed. Pressure applied to areas of the body prevents proper blood circulation. Healthy blood flow provides skin with oxygen and enables it to get brown.

TIP: Turn on the stomach mid-session to allow these vulnerable areas to turn brown.

Sunburn is caused by overexposure to UV rays. If you get sunburn, you need to take a break from all sunbathing until skin redness disappears. If you actually feel sore and burned, the tenderness can be relieved with an ordinary painkiller.

Take a bath in cool or lukewarm water for about fifteen minutes to cool off the skin.
Use a good moisturizer, preferably After sun with Aloe Vera which works great on lighter burns.

Useful information about sunlight

Tanning

A beautiful tan comes gradually and is a result of discipline. It is important to know what skin type you have and to make sure not to exceed the recommended tanning time.

8-10 sessions in a solarium are usually enough to guarantee a beautiful tan.

After a longer break from the sun it is essential to start with the recommended time and dose.

Proceed with care

A moderate UV radiation builds a protective barrier of the skin. The penetrating UVB rays stimulate the production of melanin, which then slowly gives protection.

UVB rays also thicken the epidermis and prevent the unrestricted amount of UV light from penetrating deeper layers of the skin.

Tanning in a solarium could be a great way to prepare for a beach holiday. But it must be done gradually and avoiding sunburns. It takes 3-4 weeks to achieve your base color and built a protection equal to SPF 4 to 8.

The frequency

We recommend max. 50 tanning sessions per year. This applies both to the outdoor sun and solarium. You must wait at least 48 hours between the individual tanning sessions. Exceeding your time in the sun can lead to unwanted redness or sunburn.

Color Difference

We are all born with a genetically inherited skin color. Genetic factors determine how fast you tan and how much pigment is developed by pigment cells.

There are body areas which have fewer pigment cells than the rest of the skin, for example, inner arms. Other areas, such as face, have thicker stratum corneum and therefore take longer to tan.

Outdoor sun or a tanning salon?

For tanning in a solarium, a solar-like spectrum is used. Unlike the outdoor sun, there is a timer in a solarium and the sunlight is controlled, so you will not get burned even if you fall asleep. Outdoor solar radiation intensity changes constantly, but indoor tanning always has same intensity.

Skin exposure to ultraviolet light (UV light) causes the skin to develop brown or reddish color. Color formation does not depend on whether you are exposed to outdoor or indoor sun.

There are three types of ultraviolet rays UV-A, UV-B and UV-C.

UV-C

UVC rays are very dangerous and can cause great harm to your skin. You will not be exposed to UV-C radiation in CLUBTAN’s centers. UV-C radiation is actually the main reason behind the concerns about depletion of the ozone layer, since the Ozone layer is responsible for filtering UV-C rays.

UV-B rays

UVB rays are a little kinder to our skin, but can still harm us upon excessive exposure to sunlight.

However, there is some benefits, as these rays can stimulate vitamin D production, and therefore prevent osteoporosis, diabetes, and strengthen immune system.

UV-A rays

UV-A rays are the best of the three. They are also responsible for the beautiful brown pigmentation in your skin. UV-A radiation does not cause burns, except for extreme cases, i.e. increased skin sensitivity or overexposure.

CLUBTAN® uses only the best lamps and tanning beds to guarantee the best tanning result. All our sunbeds have UV filters installed and provide a more controlled sunbathing.

WARNING: Using a sunbed increases the risk of melanoma and common skin cancer. Using a solarium can also cause permanent damage to the eyes and skin, and your skin may age faster. The more often you tan, the greater the risk.
